As we step into September—back to school, back to work, back to routine—I wanted to take a moment to remind you, but most importantly, remind myself:
We carry so much.
Not just plans and deadlines. Not just textbooks or to-do lists.
We carry our grandmother’s prayers, our father’s vinyls, the scent of orange blossom in late spring. We carry legacy. Culture. Pride.
In between Emirati Women’s Day, Saudi National Day, and so many personal returns to rhythm across the region, we carry our roots with us everywhere we go. In how we speak, how we create, how we show up in the world.
That’s why we founded KHAMSA.
Because our region has always been full of brilliance. We don’t need a Western spotlight to validate our stories—it’s already here. Raw, sharp, tender, and bold. In our art. In our style. In our youth. In our voices that are loud, soft, poetic, raw, and real.
This magazine exists to shine a light inward. To create a mirror for our people. To celebrate the inheritance we carry—and how we reinvent it.
KHAMSA is for the ones who remember where they came from, but are unafraid to reinvent what that looks like. It’s for every young Arab who grew up between languages, between borders, between expectations—and is ready to define themselves on their own terms.
This month, we explore inheritance, memory, and reinvention. From heirlooms to hairstyles, this is about what lives within us—and how we wear it forward.
This is our region.
This is our pride.
And this is just the beginning.
Welcome to KHAMSA.
