It begins with Dhanteras when buying gold, silver, or kitchenware is thought to bring good luck. On the second day, Chhoti Diwali, families wake up early for oil baths to feel refreshed. The main Diwali celebration is on day three, when families exchange blessings. Day four, Govardhan Puja, is filled with gifts, sweets, and plenty of festive food, while the final day, Bhai Dooj, honours the special bond between brothers and sisters.
