BOSS takes a futuristic trip at Milan Fashion Week

The BOSS Fall/Winter 2023 fashion show took Milan by storm as the brand revisited its heritage with a modern twist. Held at the Allianz MiCo conference center on September 22, the event showcased BOSS’s commitment to tailoring and its core message, “Be Your Own BOSS.” The collection, dubbed “CorpCore,” transformed the show venue into a futuristic oasis called the BOSSTechtopia, where technology and nature seamlessly merge.

A curious question arises: Why unveil the Fall/Winter 2023 collection during the Spring 2024 fashion month? The answer lies in BOSS’s resolute revival of the “see now, buy now” trend, which was a key highlight this season.

One other highlights of the show was Sophia, a robot created by Hong Kong-based Hanson Robotics. Serving as the original robot citizen, Sophia welcomed guests at the entrance and interacted with them using advanced facial recognition technology that can even detect human emotions. In a surprising twist, Sophia, dressed in her finest attire, was seated at the front row, observing the models as they strutted down the runway.

But the robot experience didn’t end there. Tunnels filled with life-sized holograms ushered guests into the BOSSTechtopia, where they were greeted by a mesmerizing lobby adorned with multiple screens. The runway space itself was a sight to behold, with a blend of traditional office elements and futuristic technology. Within the runway loop were six themed rooms overseen by the BOSS Techtopia Control Room. Each room served a specific purpose, from a peaceful yoga space called the HarmoniTech Space to a brainstorming room where attendees wore light-therapy headphones to enhance their creativity.

The star-studded cast of models included Gigi Hadid, as well as a diverse group of BOSS brand ambassadors such as Lee Minho, Anthony Joshua, and Alica Schmidt. The guest list was equally impressive, with names like Naomi Campbell, Suki Waterhouse, and Burna Boy gracing the front row. Social media influencers like Lele Pons and Vinnie Hacker also made an appearance, adding to the buzz surrounding the event.

Marco Falcioni, SVP of Creative Direction at HUGO BOSS, explained that the Fall/Winter 2023 collection aimed to break the codes of traditional office attire. Blurring the lines between classic and contemporary, the collection featured modern twists on timeless staples like blazers, suits, and pencil skirts. The use of stretch fabrics and deconstructed designs added versatility and intrigue to the pieces. The color palette stayed true to the corporate world, featuring neutral hues of gray, white, brown, and green, with black making a prominent appearance.

In an ode to the corporate world, the BOSS collection for Fall/Winter 2023 artfully integrated office-inspired elements, such as numerical locks adorning briefcases. Staying true to BOSS’s sustainability commitment, a noteworthy portion of the outerwear pieces featured HeiQ AeoniQ™ fabric, a sustainable alternative to oil-based materials, significantly lessening the collection’s environmental footprint.

In an evolution of their digital-first strategy, BOSS took a progressive step by offering a selection of Fall/Winter 2023 styles for immediate online purchase, bringing back the See Now Buy Now trend. Moreover, the fashion show was globally live-streamed in BOSS boutiques, allowing enthusiasts to partake in the event’s real-time excitement. Collaborating with TikTok, BOSS introduced an engaging rewards program, enticing users to earn points through interactions on the BOSS-branded page within the app, unlocking exclusive perks and unique experiences.
