Fashion Commission’s latest venture focuses on sustainable fashion

The Fashion Commission is gearing up for the fourth edition of the Swap Shop, a sustainable event set to run from November 28 to December 2, 2023 at Le Prestige Mall in Jeddah, from 5:00 pm to 11:00 pm. Held in partnership with YOOX NET-A-PORTER and other esteemed partners, the event aims to promote sustainable consumption and reduce fashion waste through the swapping of clothes and accessories.

Participants will exchange items for tokens to shop at Swap Shop, divided into a fast fashion and a luxury section, alongside engaging workshops by Taqia for customizing clothes. Attendance is free, but participants are required to register themselves. There will be nine daily rounds spanning 30 minutes each for restocking purposes. Guests have the option to drop their clothes two days prior to the start of the event for fast-track entry at the gate.

This is the fourth edition of Swap Shop, which was launched by the Fashion Commission as part of the Fashion Futures Summit 2022 to achieve a pioneering position globally in the domain of sustainability in the industry. The 2022 event was a standout success with more than 1,300 visitors, almost 1,000 people swapping clothes, and 5,500 items brought to the Swap Shop.

“With sustainability a core part of our strategy, the Fashion Commission is taking a global lead on sustainability and ethical fashion. We invite shoppers to play an integral role in our vision and education them on the importance of circulating pre-loved clothing. The fourth edition of our Swap Shop will play a key role in creating a more sustainable future for Saudi fashion.”

– Burak Cakmak, CEO of Fashion Commission

The initiative’s activities and programs play a significant role in educating consumers, spreading and boosting the culture of sustainability, and raising social awareness about the significance of following sustainable practices when making buying decisions.
