Fendi has launched a limited-edition book to celebrate the iconic Peekaboo bag. Named ‘Peekaboo-K‘, it focuses on telling the story of the legendary accessory, shedding light on the concept, and how it became what it is today.
Since its inception back in 2008, the company’s creation has evolved to become one of the most desirable products available to buyers and enthusiasts. Fifteen years later, the Peekaboo-K highlights the craft and innovation the bag has seen season after season, in terms of shape, scale, wearability, materiality, and personality.
The name of the bag is a nod to the reveal of its signature ‘mile’ upon twisting its turnlock closure. Just like its bag counterpart, the Peekaboo-K waits to be discovered and experienced. It consists of an axonometric cover with a three-dimensional construction. Inside, there is a photography collection of 80 bags from Fendi’s historical archive. There are four chapters showcasing 20 bags each.
Each chapter presents a visual approach by a photographer and is introduced to the reader by a ‘Friend of the House’. The book brings together the voices of three women from different generations of the Fendi family – Silvia Venturini, Delfina Delettrez, and Leonetta Luciano Fendi.
“Simplicity is the real eccentricity. At that time, I was looking for a contemporary, traditional, and modern form that would satisfy the most sophisticated women. Today, like once: simplicity is built on the concept of whispered luxury, similar to the singular contrast between rich materials on the inside and essential materials on the outside. The one occasion when a woman would be advised to walk around with an unfastened, open bag.”– Silvia Venturini Fendi, Fendi Artistic Director of Accessories and Menswear
Peekaboo-K is a fitting narration of what Peekaboo represents for the brand. It is available on fendi.com and will be on display at selected Fendi boutiques worldwide from October 2023.
