Chanel PFW

As PFW approaches, we take a walk down memory lane.

Chanel‘s fall show at PFW 2014 imagined the entire fashion world as a mega supermarket. The set was detailed to its core, with the best part being Chanel loading the shelves with items and collections that were hilariously priced high. Some highlights included a chainsaw with a real Chanel chain, house paint in a color called Gris Jersey, and black cotton buds sold as under the label ‘bâtonnets élégants’.

Louis Vuitton came to PFW 2013 with the aim of putting on a functional showcase. Artist Daniel Buren’s Les Deux Plateaux, a famous installation piece in the Palais Royal, was the base of the operation. From there, Buren conjured up a set with columns arranged in a grid, with their three different heights suggesting the show’s three lengths – mini, midi, and maxi. The four escalators descending into a giant yellow and white check runway only enhanced the aesthetic show.

٣. Dior AW12

Dior‘s Couture Fall Winter show at PFW 2012 was a floral masterclass. It is remembered for its exquisite flower decorations that lent an air of sophistication and grace to the occasion. The wooden flooring enhanced the natural vibe Dior was going for, making it one of their most unforgettable sets.

٤. Yves Saint Laurent – World Cup Final 98

Before France became world champions at the 1998 World Cup, Yves Saint Laurent celebrated forty years of excellence at the same venue. 300 of their greatest looks took to the stage as more than a billion people watched on live. On a catwalk designed to look like the sky, Yves Saint Laurent were absolutely flying, just like the French team after defeating Brazil later that evening.

٥. Jacquemues SS20

Simon Porte Jacquemus celebrated ten years as a designer with an incredible outdoor show that easily became the highlight of PFW 2020. A lavender field hosted the Jacquemus show, with the fabric traversing all the way over a hill and into the sky. A line of models then began walking over the horizon, giving off the impression that their fashion came from an otherworldly source. One of the most vivid and extraordinary sets ever seen.
