As the world of celebrity travel becomes increasingly private and exclusive, the chances of catching a glimpse of their airport attire are slim to none. However, when it comes to courtroom fashion, a treat awaits us all. It’s a moment of relatability that fans crave – seeing their beloved celebrities in average (debatable) human mishaps with a fashionable twist. From Gwyneth Paltrow to Cardi B, the celebrity courtroom fashion scene is a treasure trove of unforgettable looks.

Let’s dive in.

Gwyneth Paltrow, 2023

The Goop founder had to go on trial to fight a 2016 lawsuit that accused her of sending a skier “absolutely flying” at a Utah ski resort. (I mean, where would you find Miss Paltrow anyways?) After the jury declared her innocent, she was granted the $1 she requested in her countersuit. And the only Gwyneth Paltrow had to serve were some incredible looks.

Cardi B, 2023

As a result of a strip club assault in Queens, New York, Cardi B had multiple court hearings until she pleaded guilty in 2022. You can always count on two things from the Bronx rapper’s outfit: a dramatic coat and Louboutin pumps. The 2018 and 2019 looks are our favourites.

Megan Thee Stallion, 2022

Megan Thee Stallion arrived at a Los Angeles courthouse on December 13, 2022, wearing a purple Sergio Hudson pantsuit, a color associated with domestic violence awareness. She was there to testify against rapper Tory Lanez, who was accused of shooting her feet during a dispute at a party.

Naomi Campbell, 2010

Supermodel Naomi Campbell is no stranger to court appearances, or being dressed to the nines. In one of her most iconic moments, an inconvenienced Campbell testified at a war crimes tribunal in The Hague wearing a knit ensemble designed by the late Azzedine Alaia. In June 2006, Campbell faced charges of assault for allegedly hitting her maid with a jewel-encrusted mobile phone.

Amber Heard, 2022

Amber Heard made appearances at the Fairfax County Courthouse in Virginia during the sixth week of her and ex-husband Johnny Depp’s defamation civil trial in 2022. For her more memorable looks, Heard opted for a brown power suit featuring a bow ribbon and a buttoned-up suit and tie ensemble.

A Throwback: Marilyn Monroe, 1954

In October 1954, Marilyn Monroe filed for divorce from Joe DiMaggio at the Santa Monica Superior Court. The Hollywood icon looked every bit the movie star in her ensemble, which included a black jacket with an oversized collar, white gloves, and a classic pearl necklace.

Honourable Mention: Winona Ryder, 2002

Winona Ryder made headlines in 2002 when she was arrested for shoplifting designer clothes worth $5,500 from Saks Fifth Avenue. She attended her hearings wearing modest cardigans, Mary Janes, and schoolgirl pleats, including the same Marc Jacobs dress she was accused of stealing. In 2022, Ryder became the face of Marc Jacobs’ J Marc shoulder bag — iconic moves to say the least.
