Louis Vuitton

A stellar collection unveiled in the heart of Barcelona.

Into the architectural marvel that is Park Güell in Barcelona, Louis Vuitton descended with their 2025 Cruise Collection. The UNESCO World Heritage Site created by the legendary Antoni Gaudí hosted the show, its scenographic ambiance brought to life by James Chinlund. As the two-tune background music of “Music for Chameleons” by Gary Numan and “Madame Butterfly” by Malcolm McLaren played, the House brought a line-up that fluttered between elegant couture references that belonged in the 1980s and hints of equestrian.

Antoni Gaudí’s legacy in Spain is unparalleled, a feat Louis Vuitton looked at with keen interest. As the reputation attached to his name is ever-evolving, so too is the latest LV Cruise 2025 Fashion Show Collection. It is an ode to the flourishing culture of Spain, paying tribute to the country’s opulent purity and its passion for all things life. Right from the colours to its overall style, there is an overall emphasis laid on the wonders of shifting perspectives, journeying to a different land, and the joys of discovering oneself and the world around them on said journey.

Creative director Nicolas Ghesquière focused on elevating the ordinary. Take the look that opened the show – a minidress rendered in a woven wool that resembled natural fibres. One might be inclined to deem the style as unremarkable, but Louis Vuitton showed up with an upgrade, complete with Oakley-esque reflective sunglasses, biker boots, and a boater hat.

“Being in Spain, I thought of bringing together the drama and rigour of local traditions, mixing them with the extravagance of Spanish influences. I tried to sample the chiaroscuro of the paintings of Francisco Goya and Diego Velázquez and I selected the materials that recalled the historic mosaics of Gaudí structuring layered looks and modernist architectural aesthetics. For the colour palette, however, I was inspired by Riccardo Bofil Levi, who over the years has always been one of my references.”

– Nicolas Ghesquière

The main theme centred around illustrious Spanish history and traditions. There were dresses strung together by flowers that cast everyone’s minds to traditional Spanish folk performances. Catalan architecture was given its prominence, with their shades of reds, greens, and blues married well with the evergreen (pun not intended) black/white/grey hues.

There were some familiar faces in Barcelona for the reveal of Louis Vuitton’s Cruise 2025 Fashion Show Collection. Popular names like Ana de Armas, Sophie Turner, and Cynthia Erivo graced the venue with their dazzling looks, highlighting the prestige and cultural significance of the LV collection.

The Louis Vuitton’s Cruise 2025 Fashion Show Collection stood out as a stellar success, perfectly encapsulating the latest fashion wave in a way that also drew attention towards the cultural significance at hand. The designer took the histories of both LV and Spain and combined them to create a phenomenal collection that delved into the past and the future. Modern with a generous touch of retro, just like Park Güell itself, a creation that has lasted the test of time and will continue to do so.

The collection’s marriage of art, architecture, history, and fashion was yet another reminder of Louis Vuitton’s everlasting commitment towards acknowledging and celebrating heritage, while also making new waves in the realm of fashion design.
