Dior’s latest makeup is the complete package
Dior came up with a new and exciting look for Maria Grazia Chiuri’s Spring-Summer 2024 Collection. Created by Creative and Image Director for Dior Makeup, Peter Philips, it focuses on the complexion and lips.
In Dior’s words, the new makeup conjured up “a luminous translucent complexion (that) created a contrast with intense lips that were darkened in the centre, at the top, as well as at the bottom, to give a very witch-like ‘bitten lip’ effect.” Philips uses the lips as the focal point of the look, while also paying special attention to the eyes, hair, and nails.
“The lips were given the ‘bitten’ effect by emphasizing the deep colour applied where the upper and lower lips meet. I then blended outwards from the centre until I reached the natural shade of the lips at the outer edges. For the show, I created this intense ’witchy’ lip with the Diorshow On Stage Crayon 099 black, but the look can be recreated at home with the Dior Contour 943 Euphoric or 959 Charnelle. Then, I used Rouge Dior Forever, and chose from shade numbers 111 Forever Night, 500 Nude Soul, 626 Forever Famous, 720 Forever Icone, 825 Forever Unapologetic, or 999 Forever Dior.”

For the complexion, Philips prepared a soft example with the help of Dior Capture Totals Le Sérum, their Forever Glow Veil as a unifying base, and their Forever Skin Glow Foundation. He applied correction wherever necessary using a few touches of Dior Forever Skin Correct, and finished it with the Forever Skin Cushion for touch-ups.
Following this, Philips set out to give the eyes, nails, and hair their respective shines. The eyes were emphasized by structuring the eyebrows with Diorshow Brow Styler and Diorshow On Set Brown. Dior Vernie 108 Muguet made the nails look incredibly natural, while the hair was gathered into a deconstructed French twist.
