١. The History of La Maison Bleue

La Maison Bleue was created as a space for friendship and creativity. Antiques collector Amr Khalil and architect Olivier Sednaoui designed it as a dock and guest house for investor Samih Sawiris to host loved ones and inspire artistic expression. What started out as a close-quarters retreat blossomed into something much more in Egypt.

Over time, La Maison Bleue became a haven of history, art, and intimacy. It hosts large weddings and small gatherings, offering many rooms and spaces. Thanks to the pristine location of the venue, being near exquisite beaches, it has been the prime spot at El Gouna throughout its history.

٢. La Maison Bleue’s Artistic Expression

La Maison Bleue is an artistic masterpiece in its own right. The construction itself is contemporary, while also paying homage to artistic practices of old. It is also a solid depiction of the evolution of art styles over the hotel’s lifespan.

There are 13 suites located throughout the property. Each of them houses unique and exquisite furniture pieces that stand out as fine statements of luxury, wrapped in a classically inspired décor of hardwood floors, pastel-coloured walls, and elegant crystal and porcelain chandeliers. In addition, La Maison Bleue also has parquet floors, marble stairways, lofty ceilings, and painted wall murals by local artists. The collection of artworks and antiques continue to tell stories from around the world, thereby making the hotel appeal to international art communities and studies.

٣. Culinary Experiences

The kitchen is stocked with local produce from nearby farmers’ markets, which chef Vincent Guillou incorporates into a menu featuring European and Egyptian dishes. At Le Restaurant, the menu changes with the seasons, blending flavours from France and Egypt. Guests can enjoy their meals on the terrace, in the elegant dining room, or privately in their suites, with most ingredients sourced from within a few miles.

٤. Best Time To Visit

Egypt is at its finest in terms of weather during the winter, so a chilly romantic getaway at La Maison Bleue is extremely appealing. The best time to visit Egypt is during winter from October to April, when temperatures are lower. More specifically, December and January are the prime months of choice. However, those who enjoy a warm summer day at the beach will probably like the hotel during the warmer months.
