KHAMSA had the pleasure of joining Rise Bakehouse and Farah Sheikh Al Sagha, Owner & Managing Partner of Rise Bakehouse, ‘at the table’ and indulging in a fun conversation.

١. Rise Bakehouse is, as you put it, ‘a speciality bakehouse as well as a one-of-a-kind cake decorating experience’. Could you tell us more about this multifaceted description?

“At Rise Bakehouse, we aim to go beyond just providing delicious baked goods. Our speciality bakehouse focuses on crafting artisanal cakes with a touch of elegance and creativity, ensuring each piece is a work of art. Additionally, we offer unique cake decorating workshops that allow our customers to immerse themselves in the art of cake decorating. These experiences are designed to be fun, educational, and deeply satisfying, making every visit to Rise Bakehouse memorable. We believe in creating not just products, but also experiences that bring joy and a sense of accomplishment to our customers.”

٢. Cakes appeal to people due to their amazing taste and their trait of limitless customization. In the UAE, where you are based, how do you perceive the demand for cakes to be?

“The demand for cakes in the UAE is incredibly high and continually growing. The diverse and vibrant culture here means there’s always an occasion to celebrate, whether it’s a birthday, wedding, or even a corporate event. People in the UAE appreciate the artistry and personalization that come with custom cakes, and they are willing to explore new flavours and designs. This has created a dynamic market where innovation and creativity are highly valued, and we’re excited to be a part of that by offering bespoke cakes that cater to a wide range of tastes and preferences.”

٣. Tell us more about the workshops Rise Bakehouse conducts.

“Our workshops at Rise Bakehouse are designed to be both educational and enjoyable. We offer a variety of classes, including mini cake decorating, Cakelette Buttercream Piping, and seasonal-themed workshops (Halloween, Christmas etc). Each session is very hands-on, allowing participants to learn new techniques and unleash their creativity under the guidance of our skilled bakers.

“These workshops are perfect for individuals, friends, or even corporate team-building events. They provide a fun and interactive way to learn the art of cake decorating, and participants leave with their own beautifully decorated creations to enjoy.”

٤. Social media has played a key role in shaping people’s love for food aesthetics. As a brand with an active social media presence, do these changing perspectives play a role in your plans?

“Absolutely, social media is a significant part of our strategy. It allows us to showcase our creations, engage with our audience, and stay on top of current trends in food aesthetics. Platforms like Instagram and Facebook are perfect for highlighting the visual appeal of our cakes and other treats. We often share behind-the-scenes content, customer creations, and workshop highlights, which not only promote our products, but also build a community around our brand. By staying active on social media, we can continually adapt to the evolving preferences of our customers and ensure that we’re always offering something fresh and exciting.”

٥. Do you see Rise Bakehouse expanding in the future to include other kinds of food?

“We are always looking at ways to expand. Recently, we launched our Fudge Brownie Tray, which has been a big hit. We also offer a variety of other treats, including seven cookie flavours and cake truffles. Additionally, customers can create their own mini lunchbox cake by picking a cake flavour, base colour, and design from our options.

“A big dream I have for Rise would probably be to be able to provide our cakes and cookies on a much larger scale. And, be a part of different collaborations and pop-ups with other small home-grown businesses in the Middle East. We are always looking for ways to innovate and enhance what we offer at Rise Bakehouse.”

٦. Lastly, do you have any message for the bakery community or for sweet-toothed enthusiasts?

“To the bakery community, I would say continue to push the boundaries of creativity and quality. There’s so much joy to be found in baking, and it’s wonderful to see how we can bring people together through our shared passion.

“For the sweet-toothed enthusiasts, thank you for your continued support and love for what we do. Your excitement and feedback inspire us to keep creating and improving. Whether you’re enjoying a slice of cake, attending one of our workshops, or simply following us on social media, we’re grateful to have you as part of the Rise Bakehouse family.”
