The L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science Middle East Regional Young Talents Program, in partnership with Khalifa University, celebrated its 11th year by honoring six Arab female scientists for their groundbreaking work in STEM. This year’s winners include Dr. Entesar Al-Hetlani, Fatima Alshamsi, Dr. Hiam Souheil Chemaitelly, Israa Al Hussain Al Hassan Othman, Dr. Leena Ali Ibrahim, and Taiba Alamoudi, who are tackling issues like climate change, cardiovascular diseases, and autism with their innovative research.
Since its launch, the program has highlighted 57 women across the Middle East, offering grants and recognition to help them advance their work. It continues to empower female scientists and showcase their contributions to global challenges.

٩. Abu Dhabi Art reveals artists for cultural sites and In and Around Program
Abu Dhabi Art has announced three artists for the 2024 Artist Commissions in Cultural Sites: Dina Mattar, Ahmed Saeed Al Areef Al Dhaheri, and Manal Mahamid. Their works explore the cultural significance of the gazelle, a symbol of beauty and resilience in Arab literature, poetry, and environmental discourse. Ahmed Saeed Al Dhaheri’s pieces, inspired by a mythical Lady Lioness, will be showcased at Al Jahili Fort, while Manal Mahamid’s sculpture at Al Ain Oasis reflects the shared heritage of the gazelle in the UAE and the Levant. Dina Mattar presents paintings, tatreez embroidery, and works on paper, blending the gazelle with legends, plants, and flowers. The commissions open on November 19 at Al Jahili Fort and Al Ain Oasis. Additionally, the In and Around sector will feature seven cultural and ecological works at Manarat Al Saadiyat from November 20-24.
