KHAMSA sat down with Guillaume Rassemi, the co-founder and CEO of Oh My Desk for an exclusive interview. With over 15 years of experience in digital marketing and entrepreneurship, Guillaume previously built and sold successful companies in Europe before bringing his expertise to the UAE. Since launching Oh My Desk in 2024 alongside his co-founder Amir Michael Mottaghi Ghamsari, Guillaume has been focused on creating inspiring workspaces and vibrant communities in prime locations such as Downtown and Business Bay. Driven by a passion for innovation and community building, he is now leading the expansion of Oh My Desk across Dubai.
١. What inspired you to launch Oh My Desk in Dubai, and how did you spot the opportunity for coworking here?
When I moved to Dubai six years ago, I noticed how fast the city was growing and how dynamic the business environment was becoming. At the same time, many entrepreneurs and companies needed flexible solutions beyond traditional office rentals. Together with my co-founder Amir, we realized there was an opportunity to create workspaces that combine flexibility, strong community spirit, and premium locations.
That’s how Oh My Desk was born — to provide private offices and coworking spaces where people feel both productive and inspired.
٢. Dubai was already filled with co-working options; what made Oh My Desk stand out?
Dubai had coworking spaces, yes, but most were either too corporate or lacked warmth. We wanted to create something different: premium private offices and coworking spaces that feel welcoming, like Parisian-style offices, but with Dubai’s energy and 24/7 flexibility. What really makes us stand out is our focus on community. With our Happiness Manager, Laura, we don’t just rent offices — we create experiences, events, and a network that our members value as much as the space itself.
٣. How has the region responded to this new way of working & what’s the demand telling you?
The response has been incredible. Since opening our first location in Downtown in 2024, demand has grown steadily. Entrepreneurs, startups, and even established companies are seeking flexibility and community, and Oh My Desk provides exactly that. The high occupancy rates we’ve reached in both Downtown and Business Bay show that the appetite for premium, all- inclusive, and flexible office solutions is only increasing.
٤. What has been the key to building a vibrant coworking community in such prime locations like Downtown and Business Bay?
The key is balance. Of course, location is important — being in the heart of Downtown or Business Bay matters to our clients. But what keeps them is the feeling of belonging. We invest in community events like padel tournaments, football leagues, yoga sessions, and even fun activities like laser tag. This creates bonds between members and transforms a simple office into a dynamic ecosystem where people collaborate and grow together.
٥. What does entrepreneurship look like in the region to you; both for you personally and for others starting up?
Entrepreneurship in Dubai is about ambition, speed, and resilience. For me personally, it’s been about adapting my experience in digital marketing and business development to build something physical that supports others in their own entrepreneurial journeys. For new founders, the opportunities are vast — but you need to move fast, understand the rules, and surround yourself with the right people. Dubai rewards boldness, but also requires discipline.
٦. Where do you see the future of work headed in the MENA region, and how is Oh My Desk shaping that?
I believe the future of work in MENA will continue to shift towards flexibility, hybrid models, and community-driven environments.
Companies are rethinking traditional long-term leases, and individuals are seeking spaces where they feel both connected and productive. Oh My Desk is shaping this future by creating spaces that are not just functional, but also designed to foster human connection. Our upcoming expansion plans — including larger business centers in Dubai and Saudi Arabia — are aligned with this vision.
٧. Any advice you’d share with emerging entrepreneurs looking to launch bold ideas in Dubai?
My advice would be: don’t be afraid to take the leap, but be prepared. Dubai is an incredible place to launch an idea, but competition is fierce. Make sure your concept is clear, your execution is fast, and your mindset is resilient. And don’t underestimate the power of building the right community around you — it’s one of the strongest assets you can have as an entrepreneur here.
